A little history
just scratching the surface
The Harbour Inn is a Grade II Listed building which dates back to the 12th Century. There is a huge stone fireplace in the main bar where the tradition of making a faggot dates back hundreds of years and still happens to this day.
The burning of the ashen faggot takes place every Christmas Eve, when a massive faggot in a hazel twig bundle, some six feet long and three feet wide, fills the pub’s open fire. The faggot burning is accompanied by verses and carol singing.
The Harbour Inn is a Hall & Woodhouse public house which has been run by the Valentine Family since November 2010.
