About us

About us

An overview

of our wonderful inn

The Harbour Inn is the perfect place to enjoy classic pub food with family and friends at great value prices. Our comfortable, relaxed atmosphere provides the perfect setting for any occasion from a snack with friends in the bar to a classic Sunday Roast with the whole family or fine dining experience in the Chefs Library.

The Harbour Inn is a beautiful thatch roofed traditional public house set within the stunning Devon countryside in the quaint village of Axmouth, just a stone’s throw away from the Axe Estuary, which is popular with walkers and birdwatchers.

Axmouth is only one mile from the historic town of Seaton, which overlooks the sea and is part of 95 miles of Devon/Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.

There is a big campsite on our doorstep which makes us an ideal venue during the summer months.

Opening times for drinks:

Daily from 9am – 11pm

A little history

just scratching the surface

The Harbour Inn is a Grade II Listed building which dates back to the 12th Century. There is a huge stone fireplace in the main bar where the tradition of making a faggot dates back hundreds of years and still happens to this day.

The burning of the ashen faggot takes place every Christmas Eve, when a massive faggot in a hazel twig bundle, some six feet long and three feet wide, fills the pub’s open fire. The faggot burning is accompanied by verses and carol singing.

The Harbour Inn is a Hall & Woodhouse public house which has been run by the Valentine Family since November 2010.

Beer Garden

Guests can enjoy a relaxed Al Fresco breakfast, lunch, dinner while sipping cool Pimm’s or sophisticated cocktails under the summer sun.

Our patio caters for up to 40 guests and in addition we have a well kept garden offering seating for up to 75 guests.

Great place for family dining or romantic evening meals.

Dog Policy

Well behaved dogs are welcome to bring their owners into the bar and the beer garden. We ask that all dogs are kept on leads at all times.

You may bump into Fudge, our mischievous resident Jack Russell.
